LocateMe is a PocketPC program for reporting your GPS-position to your friends or family. The program will run on a PocketPC phone (WM 5/6) with internal or external GPS. First of all, disclaimers: The author of program is not responsible on any harm, damage or expenses caused by the LocateMe application. Use it on your own risk. You have to follow local Law restrictions. Warning: Application can cause SMS messages sending and GMS data traffic when fetching maps and also sending your location via http. You, will pay for it all!!! Use WiFi whenever possible. The program can: 1. Send your GPS-position as: SMS - in different formats like: NMEA RMC, POI66 or a Google Map link. Your position can be sent by a button push or automatically at regular intervals. MMS - generate a map with your position and timestamp on it (can only be done if you have permission to download maps from Google). MAIL - an e-mail is generated and will be sent when you have selected your account and pushed the SEND button in outlook. HTTP - the program supports http and can send your position to a web-site with a location service, i.e. like www.poi66.com (or to your own web-page). Your position can be sent by a button push or automatically at regular intervals. 2. Record a tracklog: The tracklog is recorded to a textfile as NMEA RMC sentences with a filname like: YYYYMMDD.TXT where YYYY = year, MM = month and DD = day. 3. MAP - show your position on a map with zoom in and out possibilities. You need permission from Google to download maps from them and be also aware of cost when using GPRS, EDGE or 3-G as communication. Use WiFi whenever possible. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Under different "TABS" of the program you will find: "GPS"-TAB: Activating or deactivating the GPS. A blue led is blinking when the program receives an RMC sentence. If this is a valid fix then led will start blinking red/green. Default GPS COM-port = 4. Goto "CFG"-tab if you are using another port number. "MAP"-TAB: A map with a blue cross is showing your present GPS-location. The buttons from left to right are: 1 - GPS checkbox, when checked then GPS controls the LAT and LON values. 2 - LAT value 3 - LON value 4 - "+" zoom in button 5 - "-" zoom out button 6 - UpD map update (refresh) button 7 - MMS creates a map with location data (LAT/LON + timestamp) If GPS checkbox (1) is unchecked then LAT and LON values may be entered manually (then use the UpD-button to refresh the map). Or you can use the stylus directly on the screen to recenter the map. "SMS"-tab If the GPS is active (1) then SMS Msg box will be updated with the latest GPS values and are ready to be sent. You may select different formats: Google map link, NMEA RMC or the POI66-format (see www.poi66.com). You can also use your own format by changing the template (under "CFG"-tab). Activate the "send every"-checkbox if you want to send several messages at regular intervals. "HTTP"-tab You may also send your position via http to a web-site by the push of the "Send to URL - NOW" button or you may send several messages at regular intervals, just like using SMS. The template for http-sending can be changed according to your own needs and are found under the "CFG"-tab. "MAIL"-tab Send your GPS-location as e-mail by setting the Active-checkbox to checked. Then push "Create e-mail" and see what happens. Select account and push send. "CFG"-tab This page has 2 sub pages. Use ">" button to go to the next. Before using the program you should enter your name and home location. You should also set the correct COM port number for your GPS. Save the settings (saved to LocateMe.txt). The cost of using http-sending of your location is much lower then using SMS. The program will be shareware and you will need a registration.
